City of Anoka issued the following announcement on Jan. 27.
The Mississippi River Trail (MRT) on Kings Island and the lower trail in Mississippi River Community Park are still closed. The Mississippi River has receded, but there is a significant build up of ice left behind covering the trails making them unsafe for pedestrians. Warm temperatures are helping improve the situation, but at this time we are unable to safely clear the ice off the trails. We will continue to monitor conditions and will remove the barricades/closure when trails are deemed safe for use.
