CITY OF ANOKA: Community Dog Walk

Dogsnow

City of Anoka issued the following announcement on Feb. 11.

One of our seniors at AHS, Lexci, is hosting a community dog walk for her senior project. She is hoping to get a donation of pet food together to give the Animal Humane Society in Coon Rapids. She is hoping for enough donations to fill the bed of our Security Unit's pick-up truck. After the event, the truck load of food will be taken to the Humane Society.

She has also partnered with K9's from Carrie. They have donated a few prizes for a raffle. She will also be selling pet bandanas for $8 each with the proceeds being used to purchase items needed by the Humane Society.

While all are very welcome to attend, we must remind everyone that the City of Anoka does have leash ordinances. According to City Code, at large means any domestic animal within the city shall not be permitted by the owner to run at large within the city. "At large" means any animal not restrained by a chain or leash not exceeding 8 feet. Also feces of any animal shall be properly disposed of by the owner and shall be promptly removed from any public property, or private property not owned by the owner of the animal. We also strongly advise that unsocialized and/or aggressive dogs should not attend this event. It is also recommended that all dogs be up to date of vaccinations.
