Sen. Roger Chamberlain released a special statement recently on the Minnesota Senate Republican Caucus website.
“Dear Friends, I hope you are healthy and at home,” Chamberlain said in the message. “The legislature was called into a special session on Friday June 12 by the governor. The purpose of this session is to continue the state’s ongoing work in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, public safety, the state budget, and an unfinished bonding bill.”
In the special session mentioned by Sen. Chamberlain, which began on Friday, June 12, and lasted nine days, multiple topics were discussed. One of the matters discussed during the special session included COVID-19 aid, which resulted in the legislature voting to send over $60 million in grant funds to small businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The small business bill was passed by the House of Representatives on a 129-5 vote, leading to it being approved by the Senate unanimously.
Other matters discussed during the session included police reform and economic recovery for the State of Minnesota.
