As another school year is underway, Rep. John Heinrich (R-District 35A) reminded the people of Minnesota to save their receipts.
Heinrich said the state has tax incentives to help lower the yearly cost of qualifying school supply items, such as: Textbooks, paper, pencils, rulers and other instructional materials.
In his legislative update, he told students about a program offered by the state House of Representatives that allows high school juniors to spend a week working at the Legislature. Those students have the opportunity to learn how state government works first-hand.
Heinrich also reminded voters about the upcoming school board election in November.
Heinrich said for the first time since 1997, the Minnesota House of Representatives will hold a "mini-session" in the southeastern part of the state. Twenty-three years ago it was held in Wilmar. An agenda for this session hasn't been announced yet.
Heinrich encouraged constituents to reach out to him, either by phone at 651-296-1729 or through email at rep.john.heinrich@house.mn, if they have any questions or concerns.
