University Elementary School: District Indian Education program set to co-host powwow April 16

University Elementary School issued the following announcement on April 1.

(04/01/2022) Anoka-Hennepin’s Indian Education program will co-host a powwow with Indian Education programs from Fridley Area Schools and White Bear Lake Area Schools on Saturday, April 16 at Blaine High School. 

The event begins at 1 p.m. and is free and open to the public. A free meal will be provided at 5 p.m. Jerry Dearly (Ogalala Lakota) will be the emcee and Frankie Graves (Red Lake) will be the arena director.

The Lac La Croix Traditional drum group from Ontario, Canada will serve as the host drum. Little Earth, Little Bear, Hoka-Hey and Red Tree will also perform as invited drums. Zach Red Bear (Cheyenne River) and Victoria Gokee (Red Cliff)  will perform as the Head Dancers.
