City of Coon Rapids issued the following announcement on April 8.
This weekend, Highway 10 will be closed in both directions between 7th Ave. and Ferry St. in Anoka from 10 p.m. Friday night (Apr. 8) until 5 a.m. on Monday morning (Apr.11).
Crews will be working to demolish the 4th Avenue and Rum River Regional Trail bridges. MnDOT says nearby residents may experience some noise, lights and vibration as crews work 24-hours a day.
During the closure, eastbound Hwy. 10 traffic will be detoured south on Hwy. 101 to eastbound I-94 and then to eastbound Hwy. 610. Westbound Hwy. 10 traffic will detour on westbound Hwy. 610, westbound I-94 and northbound Hwy. 101. Real time traffic information is available at 511mn.org.
The work is part of a two year project to reconstruct Hwy. 10 through Anoka. New interchanges will be built on the highway between Thurston Ave. and 7th Ave. The rebuilt road will improve traffic flow, decrease congestion and increase safety.
Construction is expected to be complete by spring of 2024.
