The Coon Rapids Community Tree Lighting Festival returns for a second year and it promises free fun for the whole family! The event takes place Saturday, Dec. 3 from 3:30-6 p.m. at Boulevard Plaza, 11000 Crooked Lake Blvd.

Please consider bringing a non-perishable food donation for the Coon Rapids High School Food Shelf. You may also choose to donate directly to the CRHS Cardinal Compassion Fund at the event. The fund is for students and families that need assistance with basic needs beyond canned goods, such as acquiring milk, meat, fresh veggies and household goods. Gas cards are also provided to assist families get to work and medical appointments.

The Coon Rapids Fire Department will also collect new, unwrapped toys during the event! Toy donations will benefit both Mercy Hospital and Anoka County Toys for Joy. After the event, collection boxes will be available at all three Coon Rapids fire stations, as well as City Hall until Dec. 15.
