Were students of St. Francis Area School District able to meet MCA and MTAS Reading testing expectations in 2021-22 school year?

St. Francis Area School District ranked fourth in the Anoka County for test participation, with 2,090 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of St. Francis Area School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 17% over the previous year.

St. Francis Area School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 50% in 2021-22 school year.

10th-grade students stood out with 21% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, seventh grade students had the most room for improvement, with 43% not meeting the expected standards.

St. Francis Area School District encompasses schools within Anoka County and has a main office in Saint Francis.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
