In the final week of Minnesota's legislative session, Representative Bryan Lawrence of House District 27B has reported on ongoing efforts to finalize the state budget. According to Lawrence, lawmakers are working extended hours in order to meet deadlines and ensure that priorities for their constituents are addressed.
Lawrence stated, "Whether it’s supporting school choice, standing up for families, or making sure your tax dollars aren't wasted, I’m committed to representing our community with common sense and accountability."
He described his participation last Tuesday at the Capitol alongside families, teachers, and students opposing Governor Walz's proposed reductions in funding for non-public schools. Lawrence emphasized the importance of parental choice in education: "It’s simple, parents should have the freedom to choose what’s best for their kids, and that means supporting families in the private, charter, and homeschool sectors. I’m proud to continue fighting for real school choice in Minnesota."
On Wednesday, Lawrence met with members of the University of Minnesota Dance Team at the Capitol. The team recently achieved a gold medal in Pom and a silver medal in Jazz at the ICU World Championships while representing Team USA. With these results contributing to a record 23 national titles for the Gophers dance program, Lawrence commented on their continued success.
He also welcomed students from St. Francis Middle School and a Montessori school from Princeton during visits to the Capitol. The Montessori students are conducting a project focused on Representative Lawrence.
Additionally, Lawrence recognized Ava Benjamin—a junior at Princeton High School—who served as a House page this week. He noted her involvement in swimming and Youth in Government programs as well as her intention to study pre-law at the University of Minnesota.
Lawrence concluded his update by reaffirming his commitment: "As we head into the final days of session, I’ll continue fighting for common-sense policies that make life better for Minnesotans. Thanks for your support, and as always, please reach out with any thoughts, questions, or concerns."
