The City of Anoka is continuing efforts to gather public input on the future development of a commercial site at the northwest corner of Bunker Lake Boulevard and 7th Avenue. In 2023, city officials held neighborhood meetings to discuss potential plans for the area. During those meetings, residents showed strong support for a public road connection through the commercial property that would maintain access to nearby neighborhoods.

As planning moves forward, the city is hosting another public engagement meeting and has launched an online questionnaire to collect more feedback about the proposed road connection. The options being considered include a public road as originally planned or a private drive lane running through the parking lot of the new commercial site.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the survey before it closes on Friday, December 5, 2025. The questionnaire can be accessed at https://www.anokaminnesota.com/FormCenter/Public-Services-11/Neighborhood-Feedback-Form-2025-Proposed-185.

According to city officials, understanding community preferences is important because any new development could affect local traffic patterns. The city hopes to use this feedback to guide decisions about how best to connect the commercial property with surrounding neighborhoods.
