CITY OF ANOKA: Waterfowl For Warriors (WFW) Held Their Final Hunt For The Year

Huntducks

City of Anoka issued the following announcement on Nov. 4.

Waterfowl for Warriors (WFW) held their final hunt for the year at the Anoka Nature Preserve on Sunday Nov 3. A cool crisp morning greeted the hunters in the field and on the water with a layer of skim ice on the back waters of the Rum River.

This marks the conclusion of the 6th year of the Waterfowl for Warrior hunting program. Annually more than 60 veterans & active service members participate in the waterfowl hunts. In addition, the WFW volunteers hold a youth waterfowl hunt for the sons/daughters/grandkids of veterans.

Dozens of volunteers, including members of the Anoka Police Department, Anoka-Champlin Fire Department, MN State Patrol, past/present Council members, Anoka Legion members, Anoka Halloween, Inc., professional hunting guides, skilled hunters and their dogs, and many others that just want to give back to the Veterans and their community help provide this program each year.

Thanks again to our local sponsors which includes Federal Premium, Sportsman's Warehouse, Anoka Area Ice Arena, Big Dog Duck Calls, and The Weaver Brothers Company.

If you would like to help support this program, please visit www.ci.anoka.mn.us Parks and Recreation page under Hunting Opportunities where you can download the order form for the WFW apparel, which helps keep this program self sustaining. https://www.ci.anoka.mn.us/index.asp
