City of Blaine issued the following announcement on May 13.
Candidate filing for Blaine city offices will be open from Tuesday, May 19 through Tuesday, June 2, 2020, between 8AM and 4:30PM, Monday through Friday. All candidate filings must be received by Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at 5PM. Candidates will file for four year terms that will expire in 2024. The filing fee is $50 and is non-refundable.
The deadline to withdraw names from candidacy is Thursday, June 4, 2020, at 5PM. City offices will be closed Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day. Candidate filings for city offices include:
- Mayor
- Councilmember Ward 1 (one seat)
- Councilmember Ward 2 (one seat)
- Councilmember Ward 3 (one seat)

Should candidates wish to file in person, an appointment is encouraged by contacting 763-785-6124. Candidates may also file electronically at Elections@BlaineMN.gov and pay the filing fee by contacting the city clerk’s office. Filings are not complete until both materials and fees have been submitted and confirmed.
