Minnesota Sen. Michelle Benson is calling on residents to help the community by cleaning up and donating money.

"Many of you are praying for peace today. Some will want to go to clean up locations. Others want to donate," Benson said on Facebook. "There are many great places like Loaves and Fishes and Caring and Sharing Hands that can use help. Second Harvest Heartland will have food support for those neighborhoods who had grocery stores burned."

Second Harvest Heartland is helping everyone in the community to be hunger-free by putting donations toward feeding local children, hardworking families and struggling seniors, the organization's website states. The nonprofit's website said just donating $1 can give three meals to an individual in local communities.

"They are a respected, efficient way to help," Benson said on Facebook.
