CITY OF BLAINE: Blaine Ice Rinks Update

Iceskate

City of Blaine issued the following announcement on Dec. 11.

We have received a number of questions about when city ice rinks will open for the season. Public Works has tried to flood the rinks but the ground is still too warm and the water just seeps into the ground. A cold snap is needed to freeze the ground before the rinks can be flooded. The target date for opening rinks is December 21 but that all depends on the weather. Under current executive orders the warming houses can not be open. The city will be providing extra benches and tables near the rinks for skaters to sit and change into their skates. The city's emergency management team will continue to track any changes in public health guidelines that could potentially allow warming houses to open later in the season. Keep up to date on the current status of park and recreation amenities at https://BlaineMN.gov/ParkRecStatus.
