CITY OF BLAINE: Keep Snow And Ice 5 Feet Away From Fire Hydrants

Snowhydrant

City of Blaine issued the following announcement on Dec. 31.

It can take 5 - 10 minutes to locate and clear a fire hydrant to use on a scene when it is covered in snow. When a hydrant is clear of snow, we can quickly establish a water supply that allows us to focus our attention on stopping the fire and searching the house. Our first arriving engine only carries 500 gallons of water, which lasts about two minutes. Clearing the fire hydrants in your neighborhood makes a difference!
