Street Sweeping/Brown Water Alert

Fall street sweeping is beginning to ramp up and will continue until mid-November. Please help crews complete the clean up by keeping waste bins, basketball hoops and other items behind the curb and OUT of the street. Also remember, it is against City Code to brush leaves, grass clippings and yard waste into the street. Sweepers are designed to collect sand and dirt - leaves lessen that capacity for our sweepers. Thank you for doing your part!

Brown Water Notice!

The street sweeping process requires use of fire hydrants, which can lead to brown water.

When the street sweeping vehicles run out of water, crews will use nearby fire hydrants to refill. Opening the hydrants introduces air into the system and can stir up iron sediment. This process may lead to brown water, which may be unsightly, but is safe to drink.

Avoid washing white clothes if you notice brown water. It should pass within a day or so. Water softeners also help remove the discoloration.
